San Juan Basin Technical School (Votech) offers classes to Mancos High School students. Votech is located only eight miles west of Mancos, just past the entrance to Mesa Verde National Park.

Votech is a school that high school students should take advantage of. Votech classes can replace many high school credits.

Students may drive to Votech on their own, or they can take the Mancos school bus over and back. Mancos students may attend Votech during A and B blocks, or, if they have completed all of their required credits, students may go all day if they wish.

Misty Small, a senior at Mancos, has been attending Votech for two years and is taking broadcasting. The broadcasting class films and reports the news on television channel 41 on Tuesdays and Thursdays at five and six p.m. "Votech helps students get ahead in school," explained Small.

Susie Robertson, Mancos school counselor said, "Votech has excellent secondary and post-secondary programs. Absolutely, it helps the students. They get to explore their careers."

Classes that students may take at Votech include broadcasting, auto mechanics, accounting, building trades, business, and electronics.
