CHSAA UPDATE

  • Below is a message from CHSAA announcing the suspension of the spring sports and activities season until April 6th, there will be no practices or competitions until that date.   This will also affect the middle school track season as the start date will be announced at a later time.   The Blue Jay Invitational Track and Field Meet that was scheduled for April 3rd will be looked at being rescheduled.   I will keep everyone updated on any changes that may occur over the next few weeks.

    Athletic Director

     Message from CHSAA:

All spring sports and activities including practices will be suspended until April 6th to address concerns surrounding the on-going decisions with COVID-19 pandemic.

The 2020 spring sports season, speech tournament, student leadership Advisor U, are suspended through April 6th. All music festivals are cancelled through April 6th . Additionally, an outreach with the Colorado Athletic Director’s Association will be conducted remotely from the CHSAA office. The date will be communicated after the 6th.

The decision is effective as of Friday, March 13, 2020. The decision to continue competitions today as some tournaments are currently being contested will be a local decision, supported by our office. No spring sports, activities, competition or practices can be held until at least April 6th. The situation will be monitored and evaluated with key decision-makers from around the state to determine when, or if, to resume the spring season.

On Wednesday morning, I convened a digital conference with more than 50 administrators representing diverse levels of educational leadership to collaboratively create a plan. That group arrived at a consensus to support the decision made by the CHSAA office.

Further information about the spring sports season will be communicated via CHSAANow, when available.

  • CHSAA Arbiter Athlete Registration

As you likely know, the Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA) is the governing body for the majority of our athletic programs at Mancos High School. CHSAA has implemented a new online platform called Arbiter Athlete for the 2018-19 school year. The implementation will have  little effect on our students. It will mainly effect procedures that take place at the administrative level.

However, as a result of this implementation, every student participating in any CHSAA sport, regardless of level, is required to create an account with Arbiter Athlete. CHSAA-sponsored sports include: girls and boys basketball, girls and boys cross country, football, girls and boys track and field, girls volleyball and wrestling.

Account setup must be completed before participation begins in any sport this school year—i.e. fall athletes must have this done prior to August 5th; winter participants prior to winter start date etc. This will only need to be done once during a student's four year high school career.

There are two ways to accomplish this task, and it should only take a couple of minutes:

    1. Use what is known as the Quick Account method. To do it this way, please text our school account number—S41795 to 69274. You are then guided through the process of setting up your account.
    2. Go to www.arbiterathlete.com from any desktop, laptop, tablet, iPad or smartphone. The only requirement is to be able to access the internet from your device. Again, you will be guided through the set up process. Use the same school codes listed above.

Thank you for your timely attention to this matter.  We look forward to a great year in Mancos High School Athletics.
