Mancos School District is accepting head coach applications for the following Middle School coaching positions for the 2023-2024 school year.
Positions include:
● Cross Country
● Volleyball
● Football
● Boys Basketball
● Girls Basketball
● Wrestling
● Track and Field
Middle School Sports and Activities are an extension of the classroom. The number one goal is developing a love of the game and a strong foundation in the basics of the sport.
Job description: Teach sportsmanship, cooperation, work ethic, personal responsibility, and competitiveness to all student-athletes. The coach will also enforce district and department behavioral and academic expectations of student-athletes. Engage in academic monitoring with teachers, counselors, and other academic support staff.
The coach's responsibilities include planning and leading practice sessions, providing guidance and direction during gameplay, developing game plans, as well as scheduling team meetings and maintaining communication with parents and athletes. You should be able to identify the individual abilities of each player and provide one-to-one coaching to help each player experience growth. The head coach should have a willingness to work with and learn from the High School coaching staff. The head coach should be very knowledgeable on the rules, strategies, and techniques of their sport. Coaches should also possess knowledge of sports equipment, physical fitness, and safety.
