Community Input

Dear Mancos School District Community,

As the Safety and Security Director for Mancos School District, I am reaching out to invite interested staff and community members to join our School Resource Officer (SRO) Committee. The committee's primary goal is to ensure that the implementation of an SRO in our schools is well informed, inclusive, and beneficial for all students, staff, and the broader community.

Currently, the town has allocated a Deputy who is undergoing training to fulfill the SRO role. To guide and support this process, we are assembling a diverse committee that will work alongside Todd Cordrey and myself. We believe that having a range of views and perspectives will help us develop a comprehensive program that meets the unique needs of our school district.

The committee's responsibilities will include conducting town hall meetings to gather community input, assisting in the drafting of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), and establishing protocols for the SRO program. The time commitment is estimated to be 2 to 4 hours per week from now until August, with bi-weekly meetings to keep the progress on track. The anticipated outcome of this collaborative effort is the formal adoption of an SRO program for the upcoming school year.

If you are passionate about contributing to the safety and well-being of our students and community, we encourage you to consider joining this important initiative. Your input and participation will play a crucial role in shaping the future of the SRO program for the Mancos School District.

To express your interest or if you have any questions, please reply to me at tgreenlee@mancosre6.edu  by March 7, 2024.

Thank you for your commitment to the Mancos School District, and we look forward to building a safer and more secure environment for everyone.

Best regards,

Travis Greenlee
