Cristal Cook, LCSW - author, therapist, and speaker - returns to our school for the third consecutive year. This time, she shared her newest book, Hopeless in the Rain. Using puppets, Cristal engaged the students of the Early Learning Center, emphasizing the importance of pollinators in our food production.
Throughout her visit, discussions focused on title choice and transforming a hopeless situation into one of hope through techniques such as deep breathing and spending time with friends. The third-grade students participated in creating “mind movies,” developing mental images as they listened to the story.
Cristal also engaged with fifth-grade students to discuss various career paths. Additionally, a group of middle school students had the opportunity to meet with Cristal to learn about the writing process and what it takes to become a published author.
