After a very thorough search and interview process with the assistance of search firm McPherson Jacobsen and Dr. Christy Sinner, the Board of Education is excited to welcome Mrs. Audrey Hazleton to the Mancos School District as the next superintendent.
Audrey Hazleton is currently the Middle School Deputy Principal in Singapore American School. She worked in the Roaring Fork School district from 2013 - 2022 as an elementary school principal. Audrey had previously worked as a teacher for Olander School for Project Based Learning in Fort Collins as well as a classroom teacher and environmental education in Minnesota.
The board selected from a strong slate of candidates and interviewed two finalists for the position during the week of May 5th. Board President, Emily Hutcheson-Brown said, “It was a significant impact to have the assistance of a search firm, and a professional, in Dr. Sinner, to help guide us through a process that was rich in fair practice, confidentiality and fidelity. The help that Dr. Sinner provided the board was absolutely invaluable, and something that I would recommend any professional organization consider when hiring for leadership positions that require the investment from all stakeholders, while being carried out with the utmost professionalism. We are confident that Mrs. Hazleton's leadership in the position of Superintendent of Schools will bring about the depth of experience, specifically with many years of Project Based Learning innovation paired with traditional curriculum development, in-classroom teaching, and really strong instructional coaching practices. Mrs. Hazleton brought forth a fair kindness, and demonstrated the leadership acumen that the district was seeking. We are looking forward to the benefit of her passion for education. The future is bright with Mrs. Hazleton's influence in the Mancos community and we encourage everyone to welcome she and her husband. Chris, into our community.
Audrey Hazleton will assume the duties of Superintendent beginning July 1, 2025. Audrey stated, “It’s clear to me the love and pride the Mancos community has for its students and schools. I look forward to building on the great work that is underway while working together to tackle challenges. I’m excited to be a Bluejay!”
McPherson & Jacobson L.L.C. will continue working with the Mancos School Board and the new Superintendent in helping establish performance objectives for Audrey Hazleton during the coming school year.
