4th Grade

Teachers: Mrs. Greenlee and Mrs. Zufelt

Project Description:

Students consider if we should move to a different planet given future world challenges. To explore this topic, students will learn about some of the conditions that make Earth habitable. Then, they will consider whether we can find another planet with similar conditions.

Learning Targets:

Make observations and/or measurements of an object’s motion to provide evidence that a pattern can be used to predict future motion.

Support an argument that differences in the apparent brightness of the Sun compared to other stars is due to their relative distances from the Earth.

Represent data in graphical displays to reveal patterns of daily changes in length and direction of shadows, day and night, and the seasonal appearance of some stars in the night sky.

Support an argument that plants get the materials they need for growth chiefly from air and water.

Public Group Product:

Create a time capsule, including a letter, to educate people in the future about some of the conditions humans would need to survive on a different planet.

Individual Product:

Mission log with notes and written reflections.
